Faux News Does It Again

Faux News has once again defied the standards of journalism, sinking to an all new and unprecedented low. While I’m sure they have doctored photos in the past, and they have already attempted to subliminally message voters, smear Obama’s campaign with outright lies and racist remarks, and repeated false information as the truth, this is by far a new low. Faux News (otherwise known as Fox News to those who actually give a damn about their feelings anymore) has doctored photos and smeared the reputations of two reporters who have written criticism against Faux News, instead of replying at all to any of the reporter’s arguments.

Faux News is so obviously a pile of human filth, it doesn’t even deserve the respect I usually try to give those I disagree with.

Faux News is losing ground–more and more people are realizing how fake, idiotic, and dirty it is. They can’t win by telling the truth, so they resort to the dirtiest of tactics.

What’s the story behind this picture? Jacques Steinberg wrote an article detailing Faux News’ fall from grace, though Faux News makes it sound as if it is a rabid attack against the news station. In fact, the article is mostly about the drop in ratings and popularity, and gives an explanation why, and below is the closest thing to a real attack in his very mild and factual article.

Meanwhile, Fox’s hosts have seemed to struggle on camera to find a new voice. Three times in less than three weeks in late spring, Fox acknowledged making inappropriate references to Mr. Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee. It said on June 12 that it should not have referred in an on-screen headline to Mr. Obama’s wife, Michelle, as his “baby mama.” Previously, a Fox anchor, E. D. Hill, apologized for likening a seemingly affectionate fist bump by the Obamas at a rally to “a terrorist fist jab,” and a Fox analyst, Liz Trotta, expressed contrition for making a joke about a possible assassination of Mr. Obama. -Jacques Steinberg, NY Times June 28, 2008

So what does Faux News do? They decide a good use of their viewer’s time is to smear the reporter and his editor, who they also doctored a photo of (though it was done much worse and is more obvious), calling him an “attack dog”. There was no indication that the photos were manipulated, in fact they even said “and here is a photo of…” implying that it was an actual photo and not a manipulation. They then went on to show a doctored photo of Jacques Steinberg’s face crudely pasted over a poodle, while the editor’s face was crudely pasted over the person holding the leash. The two ‘reporters’ then joked and laughed about it for a bit before finally giving it a rest.

That’s right Faux News, anyone who dares point out how horrible of a news station you are is an attack dog. It’s not as if you aren’t the GOP’s attack dog–no, of course not! You’ve never blatantly lied, smeared, censored or spun ‘news’ to make your sugar daddy the GOP look good.

I hope Faux News is taken off of the air after this one. Who watches this trash?

Depressingly, about 2 million people watch Fox News each night. I have to wonder if some of them will finally learn how much spin they blatantly put on (“fair and balanced” they’re not, they’re not even truthful too many times). Too bad that if they had any sense, they would have stopped watching a long time ago; I doubt even the current rounds of in your face blatant spinning will give them pause.

Is this real? The extent to which you are saying that second picture was doctored is vastly unrealistic. I understand that Fox News is clearly biased in its reporting, but in reality the news is a business. It has long turned away from its social responsibility to present the news in such a manner that is fair and free from opinion. So, this is not only Fox News, but every other news outlet. I’m not in support of any particular outlet but I do see that as an aspiring reporter I may end up in any of them, and Fox takes the brunt of the critiques a lot of the time.

Yes, it is, you can see the video for yourself.

I can understand your point, but this is so departed from anything even vaguely journalistic…attacking someone just because they pointed out that Faux News is losing in the ratings and why.

And Faux News does it vastly more than any other news station.

Thanks for the support today, Blue. I am still dumbfounded that people think it is perfectly okay for John McCain to refer to Asians as “gooks.”

    Hahahaha, use photoshop much?

Faux News needs some new ‘Shop artists, the horrific blur near Reddicliffe’s hairline is just too obvious, and no human being has those facial proportions.

That is shockingly bad Photoshop work. I mean, those guys are raking in the money, you’d think they could afford better.
